RE: Trading down??

After re-reading all of the responses this morning, I have to agree. A friend of mine just parked his Chevy Pickup and bought a Cobalt to drive to work. His monthly payment is 189. I asked him how much fuel he ran per month in the truck, he didn't know exactly, but it was more than the new car payment. I said to him, so the difference between the gas and the new car payment isn't enough to make much of a difference... you're spending more money than if you had just continued driving the truck. I think the same thing applies to my situation... it isn't gonna make much difference, and as someone said... if you're happy w/ what you have .. stick w/ it. My wife and I looked at MANY trailers before we found the exact floorplan we liked, it would be a shame to part w/ it now. And as for as commuting.. I have a company truck and gas card.. the Silverado stays home. (It has 24K miles on it)
Thanks again for the reassurance,
Ed

RE: Trading down??

Ya know... I'm glad I asked tis question... youo guys are making me feel better already....
Thank you for that...
We have considered putting it somewhere that would have a seasonal rate and just driving the wife's car to and from... OR, as I told my boss (wife), I know where there is a spot w/ power, a 2 acre grassy site, private pool, hot showers and will let us have our pup, and I already pay taxes on it....
Thanks again you guys... I'm probably gonna hang with what I have..

RE: Trading down??

That's not what I wanted to hear... I know you're all right thou... I just can't picture anybody wanting to spend that much money... With the price of fuel, how can the market for a 9000 pound box be good? Someone else told me this morning that more people are buying trailers/RVs because they can't travel so far...
Thanks... I'll let you all know what we do, if anything..

RE: Cable voltage

NO voltage - RF only. You would need a spectrum analyzer to check SNR. If you have voltage you may have an issue. Line voltage is used to run the equipment, taps, etc..

Sat TV is different.. 18V from the receiver to the LMB.

Trading down??

How do you figure out how to downgrade? We have a beautiful 5th wheel, but we can't use it as much as we would like. The trip to the track next week will cost me $100 each way. So, I have been thinking that maybe we should get something smaller and lighter. Here's my issue... the trailer books for $27,000 - $33,000... I owe 17,500.... How do I trade down? Without loosing my shirt.... or the theoretical 10K$ equity.

RE: Slideout not level

That is the best reply to a question I've seen... I'm still laffing
I too had to adjust my own on a previous trailer. It was not a big deal, take your time and watch what you're doing, you'll get it.

RE: Programmer Recommendations for 7.3 Diesel

Have you talked to the folks at Banks Power?? They have systems you can customize on the fly.. sorta. At least you can fiddle w/ it until you get what works best for you.. even in a Ford... Sorry, it had to be said...

Awning - Stupid Question

I am getting tired of cleaning my awning. When it is rolled up, the rain water wicks inside the roll. This makes an awful mess on the underside which is pure white. What does everyone do about this? Are there end covers that can be used to seal it up so the water can't get in? I don't really want to tarp it, I don't like the idea of the tarp beating the trailer to death in the wind....
Thanks for your thoughts

RE: What do you like to use for leveling?

I bought 8 foot 2x8s and cut them in half for leveling at the tires. I cut 18" lengths for blocking under the landing gear and rear corners. I have found recently that my 2x8s are beginning to split from the weight sitting in the middle. I see that there are lots of folks using the building blocks... guess that answers the question..

First trip of the season

Off we go... If I can remember half the stuff I need to take.
I filled the truck tank yesterday... at the bargain basement price of 5.15 9/10 .... and I feel good about it... while I'm scrimping to have enough money for a package of hot dogs for the weekend... the world's billionaires will get a little more....
Anyway, we're off for our first (short) trip of the season.... see you guys out there..

RE: Cheap gas on I-40

LOL...
I looked cuz I saw "Cheap Gas"
I was thinking of my first trip to Yellowstone. My Dad complained because the captive fuel in the park was 63 cents.
Cheap Gas.??.. I guess everything is relative...

RE: Which one would you choose....and Hello from a Newbie

Decisions, decisions... if it were me and I was faced with that choice, I would flip a coin. And I would keep flipping it until it came up Jayco... then I would go w/ that.
